An Interview with Sofia on Anna

Today's interview comes from Sofia who writes at Little Miss Pilgrim, a blog that aims to:

  • Encourage Christians, specifically women, to pursue godliness and live their lives under the authority of God’s Word
  • Become a channel for women to share their thoughts, struggles, victories, to encourage other women in their Christian lives
  • Teach Biblical principles and remind women of their role in the Body of Christ
  • Bring honor to the name of Christ our Lord and Savior

Read on as she discusses the Prophetess Anna (her favourite woman of the Bible), how Anna ties in with her personal testimony and what we, as modern women, can learn from her.

Who is your favourite woman of the Bible and why? What would you say that modern women can learn from her?

There are a lot of women in the Bible that we can consider as great role models for women today, but the first one that came across my mind is Anna. She isn’t one of those famous women in the Bible; in fact, her life and ministry has been told in just a few verses, which you can find in Luke 2:36-38

So why is she my favourite woman of the Bible? Anna devoted her life to prayer and service to the Lord even after she had experienced the loss of her husband. The true test of obedience and faithfulness to the Lord is in those moments when we experience loss, trials, pain and discouragement. I've had my share of discouragement but in those times, God made me realise that He alone gives peace even during the darkest days. Modern women can learn more about commitment and love for the Lord through the life and ministry of Anna. Yes, discouragement and pain are inevitable but God is the source of our strength, He is our joy and He is our peace.

Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is…

I am a Christian woman who is bought with a price – the blood of Christ. I am a Christian woman who knows that I cannot do anything apart from Christ, including fulfill my purpose or reach the world. I am who I am today because of Christ. I am a Christian woman who loves to see and help other Christian women see their worth in Christ.

Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is not…

I am a Christian woman who is not willing to compromise my standards no matter how rapid the modernisation of the world is today. I will remain grounded in God’s Word and live according to its principles- which include my speech, my clothing, my actions, my relations to other people. But again- I can only do this through Christ.

Any final words of encouragement?

Being a woman after God’s own heart is a beautiful thing and Christian women should treasure this beautiful opportunity that we have— to represent Christ in our womanhood. Our worth is in Christ and we should always be reminded of that as we go along each day, trying our best to be an ambassador of Christ to this fallen world.

Remember, we are precious in the sight of our Lord; we are beautifully crafted and unique in our own way. We should never exchange our worth in Christ for the demands of this world. Think, talk, dress and act like a child of the King no matter what this world has to say. You have a purpose to fulfill—give glory to your Lord.
