Today's interview feature comes from Alyssa Braddix who previously blogged at beautywithinhim.tumblr.com. Read on as she discusses Mary (of Mary and Martha fame), her favourite woman of the Bible, how she ties into her own personal testimony and what we as modern women can learn from Mary's example.
Who is your favourite woman of the Bible and why? What would you say that modern women can learn from her?
If I had to choose a favourite woman of the Bible I would choose Mary. In Luke 10:38-42 you see the story of a woman who would rather sit at Jesus’ feet and soak up all His knowledge, instead of being distracted by chores/life. When I got saved, I went through this process of just taking the time to learn. I was hungry for Christ! At that time nothing else really mattered. I would spend hours submerged in His presence through reading, praying, or writing. This process is how I discovered myself and faced my demons. I believe that every woman can learn from Mary. A woman has a lot on her plate, but it’s always worth remembering what’s truly important.
Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is...
I am a Christian woman who is willing to be set apart and fulfill God’s standards. It took about 19 years of my life to own that. I wanted to fit into the world view, but eventually I got to a point where I had to stop running away from who I really was. I was called to be set apart, to be different, and that’s okay!
Please finish the sentence: I am a Christian woman who is not...
I am a Christian woman who is not afraid to be submissive out of fear of losing power, because I understand that my true power comes from Jesus Christ. Once you follow the (Bible) guidelines given, God allows everything else to fall in order.
