Lessons from Noah's dove on how to start over

Lessons from Noah's dove on how to start over

Have you ever had one of those moments where the Holy Spirit asks you to do something and it has you all confused?

Well, that was me when I was prompted to go back to the story of Noah this week.

You see, as far as I was concerned, I'd already spoken in depth about his female relatives (and what the events of their lives can teach us, as modern women). So, I really did not understand why God seemed to want me to revisit the story.

However, I'm glad I did because there does happen to be another female in Noah's life who is and was extremely instrumental to his story. A dove! One that teaches us the importance of:

  • Reliance on the Holy Spirit

  • Not being afraid to try again

  • Seeing failure as feedback so that we, like Noah, can manifest our God-given vision(s).

She also provides us with feminine symbolism for God as well as the Holy Spirit, demonstrating that we, as women, are not the cursed afterthoughts that we are often painted as. Rather we are also made in God's image and therefore powerful- all of which I shared on my Facebook page this week via the (live) video below.

Lessons from the Woman with the Issue of Blood on Biblical Affirmations

Lessons from the Woman with the Issue of Blood on Biblical Affirmations

Last week, I talked about how the story of The Woman with the Issue of Blood has hidden gems about the 2 ways in which we can subconsciously; inadvertently sabotage our own prayers.

The week before that, I talked about what The Woman with the Issue of Blood has to teach us about how our tests are actually our testimonies.

Continuing along this route of discussing what her story has to teach us about the power of our testimonies, today I am going to be talking about what The Woman with the Issue of Blood has to teach us about the importance and use of affirmations.

Yes, I know!

In some Christian circles, the word "affirmation" can come across as taboo or having affiliations with the new age/occult- but:

  1. The Bible shares on numerous occassions about the power of our words (and it's ability to influence our lives for good or bad). As such, we need to know:

  2. How to write Biblical affirmations

  3. How to use them (in 3 simple ways)

Lessons from 30 amazing Women of the Bible

Lessons from 30 amazing Women of the Bible

This week (October 3rd to be exact) was my birthday and- it wasn't just any birthday- it was my 30th! Also, although I didn't actually make it public until late November, this month will mark a year since I started this blog with a view to:

  • Raise the profile of the contributions of the women of the Bible and how the lessons contained in these can be practically applied in our modern spiritual walks
  • Empower Christian women to fully embrace their unique identities and purpose in Christ, free of the stereotypes and traditions that can "so easily best" us

To celebrate, I am going to share my top 30 women of the Bible along with what they taught me either about Christian womanhood/femininity or life in general. So, in alphabetical order, here goes!

Lessons from El Shaddai on How Women Physically Reflect the Image of God

Lessons from El Shaddai on How Women Physically Reflect the Image of God

Before I started studying Eve and other women of the Bible, one of the things that I was really interested in uncovering was any feminine representations of God. I think that this was because the fact that God is typically spoken about in masculine terms meant that:

  • I didn't quite understand how I could be totally "made in His image"
  • I didn't always see myself reflected or represented in God or His word
  • This made me question my worth, place and purpose (as a woman) within the Kingdom of God

Wanting to reconcile these issues for myself, and others within the Far Above Rubies Collective, I did a 2-part series on scriptures that talked about God in feminine terms a few months ago- most especially as mother (if you missed that you can read them here and here).

In today's devotional, we're going to be taking lessons from El Shaddai on how women reflect the image of God in their bodies.
