3 reasons you're not as successful as you want to be

3 reasons you're not as successful as you want to be

On October 5th I attended the Next Level Speakers Conference

This was all thanks to one of my close friends who got me a ticket as a birthday gift

One of my all-time favourite motivational speakers, Eric Thomas (ET), was a keynote speaker

I’ve followed him for years and had seen him twice in London before this (I wasn't kidding about him being one of my faves lol). But seriously, every time I see Eric Thomas it’s incredible, and the copious notes I took are testament to that

Here’s what I learned 👇🏾

How to increase your productivity in one simple step

How to increase your productivity in one simple step

In September, I found myself asking myself a series of questions

I know you’re thinking “Such as?”

Well…

Like: "What is it that makes me the most happy, and how can I incorporate that into my life on more of a daily basis?"

But that was very much at the beginning of the month

I think that anybody who knows me well, knows that I love traveling

Yes, it's because I get to experience different cultures and spend time with the people that I love and eat delicious food and all of that sort of jazz

But I also realise that part of what I love about holidays and traveling, is also the person that I am when I'm on holiday

I know what I'm going to wear on each day, and I'm hyped to wear those things. I know what I'm going to do, I know who I'm going to see

So, not only am I more relaxed, but actually, I am more organised

With this in mind…

In line with that, one of the things that I started to ask myself every day in September (after this realisation) was:

What to do when people don't support you

What to do when people don't support you

When I first started to gain traction with PR it was as a blogger in the first quarter of 2017. However, by that December, I was ready to quit writing all together

Here's why 👇🏾

"If someone who I've considered a sister for 10 years could so misconstrue and under rate my writing," I remember thinking, "What hope is there that strangers will get me?"

And so, like I said, I seriously considered calling it quits with The Far Above Rubies Collection and all the business ideas that I hoped would come out of it

Fast forward to now and I am an award winning blogger, international speaker and freelance writer who has not only been able to monetise my gift but get featured on platforms such as Thrive Global, The TEDx blog, HuffPost, Bustle, Mic, Addicted2Success, Black Ballad and more. I also just got rave reviews for Media Magic (the luxury retreat that I held in Tulum, Mexico in July teaching business women how to get PR for themselves)

What led to this success was...

How to leverage your network for PR success

How to leverage your network for PR success

I always feel blessed and honoured whenever I have the opportunity to share my story in publications like Addicted to Success and Black Ballad. But, what brings me greater joy is the opportunity to share how I’ve done it with women like yourself

So, keep reading to learn how to get your foot in the door and, ultimately, be a consistent feature in major publications

SPOILER ALERT: the secret to your success is something you already possess because...

Why using your voice is the key to unlocking your next level

Why using your voice is the key to unlocking your next level

How many times have you shrunk or downplayed your personality? And how many times did you think doing this would help you advance in the business world? One of my earliest memories of being told I was being “too much” was the feedback I’d get on my school report cards. They often read, “Nina is great, but she talks too much.” Well, all I can say is look at me now (lol). I literally get paid to speak and coach other women to use their voices to pitch the media and tell their stories.

But I’m not the only woman who’s turned her “too much” into her superpower. I recently asked my IG community what they got in trouble for when they were younger and how they’ve turned that into their superpower as adults and businesswomen. Here are some of their responses:

4 little known benefits of PR

Growing up in London, I quickly learned that positioning matters. For example, whenever I use the tube, and I’m in an absolute rush (this is most days), I know that the right side of the escalator is for people who are happy to coast and that I should be on the left so that I can get to the trains faster. Knowing and following this unspoken rule helps everyone get to where they need to be easier (and in one piece lol). Similarly, knowing and understanding the full potential of PR can help you get to where you want to be more efficiently. As a result, when PR is done right, it can help you:

How PR builds brand community

How PR builds brand community

I hear all the time that social media is toxic but I really don't find that. The reason? I'm really selective about who I follow and therefore what pops up on my timeline. This means that I typically leave social media feeling positive, having either been inspired, educated or entertained. One of the people who contributes to this is Famira Green (Community Focused Brand Coach) who recently shared a post on the 5 key differences between building an audience and building a community. Not only was it too good not to share, it really reminded me why I love PR so much. For example:
